Thirteen of the homes will be located in Los Pacos, while the other 23 will be built in the northern area of Carvajal. In both cases, the developments will occupy publicly owned land.

The Town Council already has the preliminary designs for both housing projects, and the final plans are currently being drawn up ahead of their future construction.

The Regional Government of Andalusia has completed this technical document, which is required in order to proceed with the tender process for the project and construction works of this healthcare facility.

The building will have more than 5,000 square metres of floor space and will include specialist consultation rooms and emergency care areas, as well as emergency rooms and X-ray facilities, among other services.

During the plenary session, the Town Council approved the reclassification of the land required to move this initiative forward in the El Higuerón area.

The Town Council is working to ensure that most of the places at the new care home are covered through an agreement with the Regional Government of Andalusia.

Top-level professional teams and national squads such as Lithuania and China, as well as NBA stars, have trained at the centre during its first year of operation.

In the coming months, several US university teams and senior national squads from Spain, Slovenia and the United States, among others, are expected to make use of these municipal facilities.

The facility will feature three large areas dedicated to different sports, shaded zones, and a car park with capacity for 56 vehicles.

The project makes full use of the site's 27,000 square metres, which will become a major recreational and leisure area for Los Pacos and the eastern part of the city.

The project has also included waterproofing works in the underground car park to resolve the water infiltration problems affecting the facility.

This initiative forms part of the Sports Facilities Improvement Plan, which represents an investment of more than €8 million during the current municipal term.

The building will be constructed using CLT timber, one of the most sustainable construction systems currently available, helping to reduce energy consumption and achieve the highest possible energy-efficiency rating.

It will include a car park, a basement loading and unloading area, 39 market stalls with three access points, an upper floor with gastro-bars, and a rooftop terrace.

The Mayor has announced that projects will be carried out in different neighbourhoods, including the redevelopment of Asturias and Palangreros streets, among others, with an investment of €4.25 million.

This will be complemented by a further €7 million investment in the purchase of additional cleaning machinery and vehicles.

Fuengirola, 3 May 2023.- Construction work on Los Pacos Health Centre is progressing with the aim of improving primary healthcare services in Fuengirola. The Partido Popular candidate for Mayor of the city, Ana Mula, visited the site today to review progress on this future healthcare facility, the first to be built by the Regional Government of Andalusia in the municipality in more than 30 years.

The centre will have 34 consultation rooms, six of them dedicated to paediatrics, as well as a diagnostic procedures room, minor surgery services, a dental clinic, health education services, physiotherapy and radiology. These are the first healthcare facilities developed by the Regional Government of Andalusia in the town in the last 30 years. The investment by the regional administration, governed by the Partido Popular, amounts to €4,677,921.45.

"This is an extremely necessary facility that will serve this growing area of the city, including Torreblanca and Carvajal, while also helping to ease the pressure on Los Boliches Health Centre. Everyone is aware of the long history of requests we have made to reach this point: letters, meetings, projects that were left on the shelf… But the truth is, and we must be fair, that it was not until Juanma Moreno became President of the Regional Government of Andalusia that real progress began to be made. The facts speak for themselves," Mula stated.

During the current municipal term, and in contrast to the previous 30 years, new healthcare services have therefore been introduced in the municipality, such as the Mental Health Unit located in El Boquetillo.

In recent weeks, the completion of the Functional Plan for Fuengirola's High-Resolution and Advanced Emergency Care Centre was also announced. This document, prepared by the Regional Government of Andalusia, defines the number and layout of the different medical services that will be provided at the healthcare facility, which is planned for a municipally owned site of approximately 3,000 square metres on Avenida Santa Amalia.

The technical plan provides for the construction of a building with a total floor area of 5,021 square metres, of which more than 1,500 square metres will be dedicated to specialist healthcare and almost 800 square metres to emergency services. The remaining space will accommodate administrative areas and other essential operational facilities.

With regard to specialist care, the plan includes various consultation and examination rooms, as well as a physiotherapy and rehabilitation area.

The emergency department will include an emergency room, consultation rooms, several treatment and observation areas, as well as facilities for wound care and plaster casts. There will also be a room dedicated to the 061 emergency medical service.

In addition, the centre will feature a diagnostic imaging area with X-ray and ultrasound rooms, facilities for mammography examinations and a laboratory.

The planned healthcare improvements also include the extension of Los Boliches Health Centre. In this regard, Mula announced that the Regional Government is finalising the public tender process for the works "in order to improve its capacity to provide care for the many residents who use this facility".

"There is still much to be done. There have been too many years of neglect and disregard from previous Socialist governments. However, it is undeniable that over these four years, Juanma Moreno's Partido Popular government has made significant progress in our city in everything related to healthcare. As Mayor, I will continue to call for all the healthcare infrastructure that Fuengirola needs in order to provide the level of care required by all its residents," said Mula, who is also President of the Partido Popular in Fuengirola.

Fuengirola, 15 May 2023.- Ana Mula highlighted, during an election event with residents of the Miramar neighbourhood and surrounding area, the successful management model that has made Fuengirola a benchmark on the Costa del Sol. She also presented some of her proposals for the area, including Área Libre Fuengirola, together with the major projects planned for the city.

"Over the years, we have transformed Fuengirola together, creating a model city that is prosperous and innovative. A city with enviable economic strength, a vibrant cultural scene, a high level of social services and progress across every area, making it increasingly sustainable and welcoming. A city for everyone. We are proud that Fuengirola is now a national and international benchmark in many respects. The Fuengirola Brand, recognised around the world, has become synonymous with quality, well-being and progress. But we cannot stop here. After several very difficult years, largely marked by a pandemic that we successfully overcame together, we have continued and will continue to move forward with the key projects that are essential to Fuengirola's development," the mayoral candidate stated.

She presented residents with Área Libre Fuengirola, a major new space for expansion, leisure and artistic expression in the city. The initiative will extend across more than 230,000 square metres around the River Park area and will bring together new spaces dedicated to culture, heritage, leisure, sport, entertainment, nature and free artistic expression.

Alongside the River Park itself, the Ignacio Echeverría Skate Plaza, the calisthenics area, Sohail Castle Park, the Marenostrum Fuengirola venue and the New Natural Park, the Partido Popular mayoral candidate plans to add an open-air amphitheatre for public performances across different artistic disciplines on the plot next to the Natural Park, as well as a Youth Centre, a Technology Innovation and Training Centre, and an area specifically designed for parkour.

She also announced plans to renovate additional public spaces, including República Argentina Street, and to continue implementing urban improvement programmes "so that every corner of this neighbourhood, and indeed every neighbourhood in Fuengirola, looks even better".

As she had already announced at the event held in Los Boliches the previous Friday, Mula also confirmed the launch of a Municipal Parking Plan, which will create new parking spaces in that neighbourhood — including approximately 1,000 spaces beneath a new Santa Fe de Los Boliches Stadium — as well as in other parts of the city such as Los Pacos, Torreblanca, Higuerón, the town centre, the Fairground and La Calerita.

She added that "we are also studying possibilities very close by, here in Miramar".

Mula also referred to the major projects "that will take us towards the New Fuengirola", including the New Port, Mercacentro and the Theatre and Cultural Building, among others.

She further stressed that "we will continue to support every sector of our city's population": older residents, young people, business owners, families and local organisations, whom she described as key contributors to the city's progress.

Finally, Ana Mula encouraged those present to take part in the upcoming elections and support the Partido Popular of Fuengirola, which she represents locally, in order to continue the transformation already underway in the city.

"We will continue transforming Fuengirola together. With your support, all of this will be possible. For Fuengirola to continue growing and progressing, so that everyone benefits, the ballot boxes must be filled with Partido Popular votes. If we want to continue enjoying the Fuengirola that makes us so proud, we must go out and vote for the Partido Popular," she concluded.
